There is a phenomenon in insurance called “adverse selection”, where an inordinate percentage of those buying coverage are those sure to have a claim. As claims are paid,prices go up in a vicious circle until the system crashes. An analogous situation is taking place in MA schools, where parents of school age children are passing overrides for new buildings/programs, then moving out of town as soon as their kids are in college, leaving others to pay the bill. We should expose this cynical class warfare, pitting elderly and younger homeowners against those looking for free de facto private schools. And you thought driving an SUV was selfish and stupid?
