Big Baby Really Likes Manicures

1210785072A couple of weeks ago, we declared that journalism was over when the AP came up with the headline “Powdered cocaine not just for white yuppies anymore.” But now we realize that our declaration was premature. Today’s Herald features a story about our favorite Celtics rookie Glen “Big Baby” Davis and his dedication to well-manicured hands.

Big Baby: Hand Model

As longtime readers of Boston Daily know, we’re fascinated by Glen “Big Baby” Davis. Whether he’s pondering the genius of Michaelangelo or wiping the parquet with the Pistons, every little thing he does is magic to us.

Which is why we were delighted to learn that Big Baby has endorsed a line of men’s manicure products. Yes, really.

The Sports Weekender

1192116647Big Baby grows up and grows up and grows up, the Jaguars are ready to rumble, and Roger Clemens speaks in a language only he can understand in this edition of the Sports Weekender

As you all know, we love Big Baby Glen Davis. We fell hard for the portly second-rounder and his whimsical diary entries in the Herald, but we also knew that there was more to Big Baby than a quip and a smile. It’s odd that current Bull malcontent Tyrus Thomas became the scout’s meow after LSU’s improbable Final Four run in 2006, because Big Baby was clearly the best player on that team.

Not blessed with Thomas’ otherworldly athletic gifts, Big Baby nonetheless had serious basketball skill. The only question was, could he translate those talents as a vertically-challenged big man in the NBA. Well, you can ask the Pistons about that. (more…)

Big Baby Becomes a Man

1194898506It was a proud day for Boston Daily, and our favorite Celtic, as noted thespian Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis took his turn in the starting lineup for an ailing Kendrick Perkins. (Quick aside: Who among us didn’t fondly remember Pervis Ellison when word came down that Perkins was out because his bed attacked him?)

Big Baby was all over the floor last night as the Celtics gutted out yet another ugly win, this time against the Kings. Davis had 16 points and nine boards, was money from the free throw line, and was generally a gigantic pain in the neck for Sacramento with his effort. He even finished a couple of times in the lane. He just needed to remember to breathe. (more…)

The Big Baby Chronicles, Part I

1194898506Like the rest of you, we have quickly fallen for the new-look Celtics. It’s not just that they’re good, it’s that they are dispelling the conventional NBA maxim that says that stars can’t play together without acting like brats. This team is good and likable.

But while we admire the shooting prowess of Ray Allen, the intensity of Kevin Garnett, and the energy of Eddie House, we have decided to adopt Glen ‘Big Baby’ Davis as the official Celtic of Boston Daily. (more…)

The Genius That Is ‘Big Baby’

1192116647We’ve got a confession to make. We love Glen “Big Baby” Davis. Of all the exciting things happening with the Boston Celtics these days, the one that has us most pumped is the rookie forward from LSU. If you haven’t been reading Big Baby’s European diary in the Herald, you are missing some of the best comedy since Brett Szabo roamed the parquet. (The Szabo Era was, of course, more horrifying than hilarious).

Not only do we finally have a real NBA team again, we might also have our own Gilbert Arenas. (more…)
