Like a lot of people we can’t wait to see the Sex and the City movie. It’s all the heavy drinking, frustration with men, and female bonding we crave, except in a different city and dressed in much nicer clothes. (Speaking of the wardrobe, we’re counting down our favorite Carrie Bradshaw ensembles on Bostonista.)
So we’re pretty excited for the movie. Note that we said excited. Not insane. Some Sex fans have crossed into stark raving lunacy in advance of the movie’s release tomorrow.
The line to get in to the Boylston Street Apple Store stretched down Fairfield Street for several blocks for last night’s grand opening. Some determined souls had spent the night in front of the three-floor Mecca of Macs, but most of the people we spoke to showed up sometime during the afternoon.
Boston Daily just got back from a press preview of the spacious Boylston Street Apple Store, which opens tomorrow at 6 p.m. The Fenway Park-inspired facade has been removed, revealing the controversial three-floor glass building that is the largest Apple Store in the United States.
Apple Senior Vice President of Retail Ron Johnson said a few words about the store’s design and educational offerings, and then made way for Mayor Tom Menino to enthuse about the new store.
The Red Sox may have been playing in Minneapolis last night, but there was still plenty of cheering going on at Fenway Park. The first ever Monster Chef event was held at the EMC Club, and Boston magazine president Dan Scully (we call him el jefe) got in the kitchen to work some magic.
At Saturday’s inaugural Boston Civic Summit, people were really excited about the food. Shortly after we arrived, the second breakout education session let out and attendees trekked to a third-floor ballroom for a State Street-sponsored lunch of salads and cold sandwiches. Vivien Li made the parallel between eating together and working together as she introduced speakers Ron Bell and Dr. Thomas Sander to the hungry crowd.
At long last, Patriot’s Day is nearly here. After dealing with nightmare commutes during blizzards, and an unusually early Easter, it’s the first chance we’ve had to really get out and celebrate spring.
The curmudgeons among us view the third Monday of April with dread. Most of the city’s roads are closed, making it nearly impossible to get around by car. Those who aren’t lucky enough to get the day off have to contend with tourists and runners on the T.
Whether you love the madness or pout all day, we want you to be prepared. After the jump, we outline all the Patriot’s Day happenings.
Since our bleary eyes were trained on our television and the goings-on thousands of miles away this morning, we missed the advertisement on the bottom of the Herald’s back page until Boston Sports Media Watch pointed it out. Everett sports nutrition store American Nutrition Center will have a special guest on Thursday. Personal trainer and Roger Clemens foil Brian McNamee will make his first public appearance since testifying before Congress last month.
Thinking it may have been a cruel joke, we called the store and spoke to owner Steve Cardillo.
We have a love-hate relationship with St. Patrick’s Day. While we warmly embrace any holiday that’s all about drink and men in kilts, the amateurs who can’t handle their liquor ruin it for everyone. So to enhance the experience, we’ll review how to enjoy your holiday without pissing us off safely.
Last night’s special screening of On Broadway reminded us that despite its big-city status, Boston is a surprisingly small town. As we entered the lobby of the Regal Fenway Cinemas, we caught a glimpse of our first love, Joey McIntyre, as he mugged with writer-director Dave McLaughlin and fellow costar Mike O’Malley. And when we took our seats in the theater, we saw a woman who looked oddly familiar.
As it turns out, we’ve been close to Joey Mac for months and never even knew it.
Last month, Boston Daily somehow managed to best the Virtual Waiting Room and score tickets to Opening Day at Fenway Park. Since then, several friends have tried to lure us with food and drink to give them up, but we refused.
But there is a way you can get inside the gates on April 8 and watch the team receive their championship rings.
