Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Shop. . .

1195666041Crocs are taking over Boston.
Yes, we know all too well they’re already being sold at stores all over the city. But the company is continuing to expand its reach in the ugly-but-comfy footwear market by opening its first East Coast retail store in Faneuil Hall on Black Friday. Gee, how did we get so lucky?

Turkey and Its Aftermath

1195657601Here at Boston Daily, we love Thanksgiving. It’s one of the few holidays left that you can cite by name when wishing people well, and we love any occasion based on gorging ourselves on rich food and watching football. But for those of you who just can’t stand the idea of pulling giblets out of a raw turkey, we’ve got options for you.

Police Blotter Fun

As a public service, we recap the droll commentary and surprisingly stupid criminals that make the crime reports required reading.

1194277140We’ve noticed that a lot of college women don’t quite understand recent fashion trends. The racks at H&M are filled with tunic-length garments that are meant to be worn with tights or leggings, but some young women are wearing them bare legged. With one wrong movement, nothing is left to the imagination.

Maybe that’s what happened to Ashley Thrasher of Foxborough.

Red Sox Players: Buy Our Stuff

1193943140We kind of like QVC. The cable shopping channel does have some heinous offerings, but it also carries some of the high-end brands we love at lower prices. But last night we tuned in to see Jonathan Papelbon and Doug Mirabelli sell some astoundingly expensive memorabilia.

Red Sox Redhead Rewind

Two weeks ago, Boston Daily became a Red Sox Redhead. At that time, the Sox were losing to the Indians and we feared we may have sent Amy Derjue on a fool’s errand. Luckily for her, she’s now sporting the colors of the 2007 World Series champions. With the season over, we asked her how she liked rocking the red.

Who Will Clothe the Freshmen Now?

If you didn’t hear at the dining hall, the dorm, or the kegger, (or even the newspaper) all 23 locations of Jasmine Sola, which has specialized in a variety of jailbait-oozing styles from beer pong-ready jeans to sorority formal-appropriate dresses for decades, will be obsolete before the year is out.

According to a press release, Jasmine Sola’s parent corporation New York & Company is “exploring opportunities to convert existing Jasmine Sola locations to its New York & Company concept and to redeploy Jasmine Sola associates to positions in New York & Company, where feasible.”

So what do area coeds think about the death of their beloved clothier and idea of all that Juicy Couture being replaced by New York & Co.’s lower-end merch? We asked a handful of student shoppers at the chain’s popular Newbury St. and Pru locations. (more…)

Boston Daily Becomes a Red Sox Redhead

1192561984Red Sox fandom and fashion don’t usually go together, but the Philip Ciampa Salon and Day Spa is trying to change that. Instead of wearing the beat-up Sox hat, diehards can become Red Sox Redheads by having extensions added to their hair. Being the slaves to fashion that we are, we sent Amy Derjue to express her love for the team by rocking some red in her coif.

Tom Brady: Stetson Man

1192210978Tom Brady is a busy man. The quarterback of the 5-0 New England Patriots, part-time father, and watch designer has another modeling gig. Instead of cuddling goats or modeling designer suits, Number 12 is rocking the shearling-coat and dirty jeans style for Stetson Cologne.

An LA Momma in Boston

1192196646The super-cool Skye Hoppus was at District last night and Boston Daily was right there with her. The LA-based clothing designer and author, was at the club to sign copies of Rock Star Momma, a guide to maintaining personal style during pregnancy. Personal style is something the wife of Blink 182 guitarist Mark Hoppus has in spades, as well as a great sense of humor. (more…)
