Is TapeGate Coming to a Close?

1210773029The only thing we’re more excited to see than tomorrow’s edition of the Herald is next week’s season finale of Gossip Girl. Both the Globe and Herald say that John Tomase is going to explain how the erroneous report of a tape of the Rams’ 2001 Super Bowl walkthrough ever made it into the paper.

OMFG.

It’s Not Easy Shopping Green

1210790796We here at Boston Daily have had our faith in the capitalist system tested today. It seems that companies may be exaggerating the benefits of their green products. For profit!

Oh, the humanity.

Threats to Sal DiMasi’s Physical and Political Life

You know you’re going to have a rough day when the Globe has so much coverage about you that they can run it under one headline. House Speaker Sal DiMasi gets the treatment this morning as the broadsheet reports on the continuing saga of Richard Vitale’s lobbying work and reveals that the Speaker was receiving death threats during the heated casino debate.

T-Mizzy Keeps on Biking

Earlier today, we told you that we can’t ever see enough pictures of Mayor Tom Menino riding a bike. The Globe has this hilarious image in its archives, and provides further amusement in today’s edition.

1210688778But the Herald may win the day by providing video of Menino tooling around the city in his bright blue track suit.

Ron Paul Keeps the Revolution Rolling

After Tuesday’s primaries in North Carolina and Indiana, we said that the only thing that will get our attention back on the presidential race is if John McCain announces that Mitt Romney will be his running mate.

1197658276But the Globe pulls us right back in with a story about the tenacity of Ron Paul supporters who may make the Republican National Convention more contentious than the never-ending race between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

The Globe Shakes Up its NBA Coverage

1210345073With all the turnover at Morrisey Blvd., it’s tempting to forget about the talent that’s actually sticking around. Marc J. Spears took over the Celtics beat this year and brought a refreshing national perspective to the job. With longtime NBA scribe Peter May electing to take the buyout, Spears is now slated to take over the NBA beat.

His first Sunday Notes column for the Globe will appear this weekend.

(Not Just) Another Globe Staffer Departs

1210275642We really shouldn’t be surprised to read about another high-profile name departing from the Globe newsroom, but this one’s gotta hurt the broadsheet. Adam Reilly reports that Pulitzer-prize winning reporter Charlie Savage has left Morrissey Boulevard for the New York Times.

The Greens Go Amish

One of our great pleasures in life is a long, hot shower in the morning. But our green guilt starts to kick in once we wake up enough to realize that we’ve wasted untold amounts of gas to heat the gallons of water that have bounced off our back during our 20-minute shower. Imagining a polar bear struggling to find an ice floe in the arctic, we grudgingly turn the water off and start our day.

1210258079But some locals can loiter in the shower without guilt because they’ve taken the old-fashioned barn-raising and turned it into a solar-panel raising.

Pundits to Clinton: Drop Out

Dear Hillary Clinton,

1199909596Hello there, Senator. Boston Daily here. We know you haven’t paid us much mind since February’s Super Tuesday primary. But while you’ve already collected your delegates from Massachusetts, we like to think you still care about us.

And like the friend who tells you when your pantsuit makes you look fat, we’ve got to say this: We agree with Globe columnists Joan Vennochi and Scot Lehigh. It’s time to stop.

The *Tough* Life of Ben Mezrich Continues

In the March 2008 issue of Boston magazine, we profiled Ben Mezrich as 21, the movie based on his bestselling novel Bringing Down the House, hit theaters. Despite the continuity problems, moviegoers seem to be happy with the result. The film has made more than $100 million since its release.

The good times have continued for Mezrich. The Globe reports today that two more of the author’s books have been optioned.
