Where Did All the Vacationers Go?
My friends and I hit traffic only twice on the epic journey from Narragansett, Rhode Island back to Boston yesterday. The first patch was at the split of Rt. 4 and Rt. 1 in Rhode Island, which we deftly avoided by taking back roads. The second time was at the split of 95 and 93.
Maybe the clamcakes and chowder made us hallucinate, but the traffic didn’t seem all that bad.

Everybody Hates Logan
The last time we flew from Logan, we didn’t have a great experience. (Thanks again to the incompetent malcontents at the security checkpoints. If you’re that miserable, shouldn’t you be working at the Registry of Motor Vehicles?)
Apparently, we aren’t the only ones who dread heading to New England’s biggest airport. The Globe reports that Logan slipped to 16th place in a survey of traveler satisfaction.

The Herald Goes Green Baiting
While it may not be in contention for a Pulitzer, Jessica Van Sack’s expose on the MBTA’s elite team of perv hunters may be the best article we’ve read all year. It had all the elements of great storytelling (justice! danger! pervs!) and tapped neatly into our fears of creepy guys on the T.
The Herald tried to force lightning to strike twice, this time sending Mike Underwood for a joyride in a Hummer in the hopes that some pinko liberal in Cambridge or Brookline would fly into a rage.

Driving Us Mad
For the first time in a long, long, long while, we agree with the Boston Globe editorial board. (You’ll remember these are the same people who brought us classics like video games are the devil’s work and txtng sukz.)
But like us, and like most self-respecting Bostonians, the Globe is properly pissed off by last week’s AutoVantage survey on road rage. The Hub came in second on the list of least courteous cities.
Naturally, everyone is @^$&! irate that we weren’t picked as the biggest (m)assholes.

The Cost of Love
Being in a long-distance relationship sucks. You stay tethered to your phone like a lovesick teenager to keep the lines of communication open. There’s no calling up your significant other and asking him to come over and make out on a whim.
And now it’s becoming prohibitively expensive for couples to travel and get that much-needed face time.

Mike Ross’ Excellent Biking Adventure
Mayor Tom Menino isn’t the only politician in the city who’s excited for Bay State Bike Week. Our MySpace friend and Boston City Councilor Mike Ross is also participating by leaving his car in the garage and commuting by bike from Mission Hill to City Hall. He gave us his thoughts on how many hazards bikers face, the unforeseen issues that came up, and tricks to keep your suit looking nice in your backpack.

T-Mizzy Keeps on Biking
Earlier today, we told you that we can’t ever see enough pictures of Mayor Tom Menino riding a bike. The Globe has this hilarious image in its archives, and provides further amusement in today’s edition.
But the Herald may win the day by providing video of Menino tooling around the city in his bright blue track suit.

It’s Not Easy Getting the Green Line
The epic struggle to get Green Line service extended into Somerville and Medford continued yesterday. The project’s advisory board met to discuss exactly where the new stops would be located, and where the light rail line would run.
The news that five of the seven new stops would be in Somerville should make the city’s T-starved populace happy. But the Somerville Journal reports that some residents aren’t thrilled to see the train coming.

You Bought It, You Fill It
In the halcyon days when I first got my driver’s license, gas cost less than $1 a gallon. A week’s worth of commuting to school, Dunkin’ Donuts, and my part-time job could be financed by a single evening of babysitting. It was a great time to be a teenager in the suburbs.
But even back when a gallon of bottled water cost more than the same amount of fuel, I was happy to not have to pay to fill the hulking trucks and SUVs that some of my classmates drove. So I can’t feel too bad for people who bought huge vehicles and now can’t afford to keep them running.

Watch Where You Walk on the Longfellow
We here at Boston Daily don’t have any degrees in engineering. The most advanced thing we’ve ever built was a Lego castle. But we must say that we’re having some serious doubts about the structural integrity of the Longfellow Bridge.
