Fear and Loathing at Logan

1205935061I don’t travel by airplane very often. With high gas prices and a weak dollar, I’d have to open another credit card to finance a trip, which wouldn’t be likely since all available credit has been locked down due to the foreclosure crisis. But I just returned from a long weekend in Fort Myers that was financed by my tax return, and the only thing worse than going from 85-degree weather to snow is dealing with the security people at Logan Airport.

Our Cape League Name is the Boston Daily Braves

With the high price of tickets for a game at Fenway Park, we’ve become big fans of minor league baseball. For the money we’d spend on StubHub (or for the Xaverian Brothers High School auction) we can drive to Pawtucket, park, buy tickets, gorge ourselves on food and drink, and have enough money left over to stay in the shadow of I-95 at the Comfort Inn Pawtucket.

Please Don’t Stike, Amtrak Employees

1200429148Remember your commute during that snowstorm last month? It was so bad that schools scrambled to be the first to close before yesterday’s somewhat disappointing nor’easter. We mention it because you’ll recall that mid-December day fondly if Amtrak workers go on strike.

Gird Yourselves For a Full Day of Commuting Nightmares, Week II

1198269567It’s holiday rush time! Just in time for the beginning of the Christmas travel weekend, Logan experienced heavy delays yesterday that are affecting today’s flights. But now the Logan-related delays aren’t limited to the tarmac. Channel 5 reports that the Ted Williams Tunnel is closed due to a crash.

Good Times in the Mile-High City

1193418696As Boston Daily drifted off to sleep, visions of Jonathan Papelbon dancing in our heads, we were surprised to get a call from a friend in Tennessee.

“My Dad has tickets for Game 5. If you can find a way to get there, you can have them.”

Unfortunately, we don’t have the time to drive to Denver, nor do we have the princely sums for airfare. But we decided to research what else we could do in Colorado’s capital in case a reader kindly donates roundtrip airfare. (Hint.)

In the absence of that, here’s what you might do if you’re on your way west.
