When you’re convinced that bacon makes everything better, dining with vegetarian friends can feel like a major downer. Permit Veggie Galaxy to convince you otherwise. From the hearty onion-ring-topped mushroom-chickpea burger to the creamy mac ‘n’ cheese with bread crumbs, the menu here is designed to please fans on either end of the meat spectrum. Another thing everyone can agree on? The vegan Taza chocolate layer cake, which provides a welcome dose of dopamine to carnivores and herbivores alike.

Veggie Galaxy isn’t even as good as Veggie Planet, let alone the Best of Boston. Their brunch is decent, but they phone everything else in. Their veggie burgers are a sloppy mess that falls apart. Their sauces are either bland, or liquefied cayenne pepper. Nothing on their menu is, to my mind, inventive or novel and the mundane they execute poorly.

I’d rank Veggie Planet, Grendel’s, Life Alive, Upstairs on the Square, Clover and the Friendly Toast as having more interesting and tasty options for us vegetarians, and that’s in Cambridge alone.

If you want to compare tattoos with the staff while drinking a ‘gansett, Veggie Galaxy is for you. If you want to eat a great meal, you’ll be disappointed.
