The Overview
Leave it to No. 9 Park’s Barbara Lynch to make the oyster bar stylish. This South End darling not only serves oysters, it’s designed to make people feel as though they're inside one: The walls are pearly gray, and the open kitchen and wraparound bar feel more Barcelona than New Bedford dock. The master oyster shuckers serve up the best varieties, which change daily depending on what’s fresh. The menu includes standards like fried clams as well as upscale items like seared halibut and blackened sea scallops. But what really places this oyster bar a notch above the rest is its lobster roll on a lightly toasted hot dog bun, with just a smear of mayonnaise and the crisp crunch of celery. Add homemade sweet pickles, tangy slaw, and perfectly crispy fries, and you’ve got a true trendsetter.
