There are few culinary reasons to visit Medford, a town that’s not exactly known as a gastronomic destination. Bistro 5 is the exception. The creation of chef-owner Vittorio Ettore, Bistro 5 has an intimate feel and hip (without being pretentious) décor. These stylish surroundings are a perfect complement to Ettore’s food, from a menu that changes frequently but always highlights a cross section of international influences. Start with the baby eggplant stuffed with roasted pepper, thyme, and goat cheese, or indulge in the veal Milanese, a fine adaptation of the domestic favorite served over sage-garlic mashed potatoes.
