Caffè Tosca, the more casual (read: less expensive) sibling to South Shore institution Tosca, is small on space but big on style. The kitchen pumps out fantastic rustic pizzas, grilled over a fire of oak and cherry woods, and scattered with the likes of sweet corn, pancetta, roasted garlic, and gooey, sweet-smoked mozzarella. The appetizers, like the artichoke fritti, shout bright flavor through an almost tempura-light, crisp batter. Main dishes are carefully constructed, too—the trinette noodles with corn and smooth mascarpone are as delicate as they are delicious—and rich enough to double as dessert. The room also has great energy, with a black, leather-covered bar and crisp white linens.
