After years of showing off at his haute French restaurant, Pigalle, Marc Orfaly is ready to let the food speak for itself. At Marco, his modern but intimate North End trattoria, he serves no frills-fare with a simplicity that dazzles. Carnivores will savor the house-made salumi, including prosciutto, spicy coppa, and mortadella, while veggie lovers will sigh over artichokes stuffed with creamy goat cheese, breaded and greaselessly fried. More-adventurous dishes can be hit or miss, so stick to the classics: risotto Milanese and homemade tortelli filled with a sweet mix of butternut squash and sprinkled with amaretti cookies.
