You might think the last thing Boston needs is another cute oyster bar. But now that we’ve got Neptune—a combination of Paris bistro and New Orleans oyster bar—we don’t know how we ever lived without it. The menu offers greaseless fried food and a very fresh and good raw bar. Signature dishes include a lobster roll (served cold in the traditional style or warm on a hot buttered roll), the po’ boy (with your choice of oyster, shrimp, or clam), and a tuna carpaccio that’s really sashimi niçoise. But there are also standout versions of clam chowder and oyster stew. Main courses are similarly generous, though chef David Nevins, an Olives alum, may overadorn fresh seafood that can stand on its own.
