The Overview
Yeah, yeah, you have to wait. But it’s no wonder when the food is this good. Locals swarm chef Ken Oringer’s South End tribute to Barcelona for the party atmosphere (we love watching novices take a turn at the porron, a crystal carafe with a long narrow spout) and the authentic tapas: gambas al ajillo served in a delicate saffron sauce, pimientos de Padrón, and a potato omelet that for once is not overcooked. Grab a space at the bar or put your name on the list for a table where you’ll have just enough elbow room to dig into more-substantive entrées like the lubina à la sal, a salt-crusted Mediterranean sea bass, or the bistec de Faldilla, a skirt steak served with an oval of Cabrales blue cheese butter.
