Street Style: Fringe and Studs

Rakhshita Darh proves that black doesn't have to be basic.

It was Rakhshita Dahr’s shoes that stopped me in my tracks. I’ve got a thing for fringe, so I spotted her adorable moccasins miles away (yards, rather). I love how Rakhshita lets the details of this look pull it together; the studs on her bag and the fringe on her feet dress up her basic black. Read on to find out what this self-described geek likes about Boston style.

What are you wearing?

My shoes are from Aldo, my coat is Tommy Hilfiger, and my bag is also Aldo. My jeans are from The Gap.

What do you do?

I work at the Massachusetts Biotech Council; it’s right down the street, actually.

Are you from Boston?

No, I’m not. I actually grew up in India and I moved to D.C. to go to Georgetown. Then I got a job in Boston.

What have you noticed about Boston style?

It’s generally pretty good! It’s cool because the four distinct seasons offer a lot of opportunity for people to dress differently. Every few months you get to go shopping. But I will say that Bostonians are very partial to their skinny jeans and boots.

Do you read any style blogs regularly?

No, not really. I’m a geek, so I mainly read my scientific journals.
