Boston Fashion Week: Sam Mendoza

The Boston-based designer showed off his sporty new collection under the Tent.

Texas-born designer Sam Mendoza sent sporty separates (mesh tanks! bright piping! raw edges!) and effortless, sexy evening wear down the Tent runway Friday night — at times to the tune of Janet Jackson slow jams. There were bits of vivid ribbon sewn here and there throughout the collection (they didn’t add much; if anything, they seemed random) and models strutted in matte candy-colored lips and braided updos.

Here are just a few of the ensembles from the evening…

(This skirt moved beautifully, thanks to the pleats.)

(Sexy straps crisscrossed the models’ backs.)

(Sam Mendoza whizzed up and down the runway after his show, doffing his hat in the process.)
