The British brand's first Boston store fulfills all our wildest middle school fantasies.

There’s a British invasion happening in the Hub. First Ben Sherman and All Saints popped up, then Fred Perry, and now … drum roll … Dr. Martens has touched down. The British shoe company opened its first Boston shop at 201 Newbury Street yesterday, in the old Betsey Johnson location.

The store features exposed brick walls, industrial shelving, and leather sofas, and sells both men’s and women’s footwear — think classic boots and studded brogues, leather booties and delicate flats.

A grand opening event with a special musical guest is scheduled for December 6. (Fingers crossed for the Who; Pete Townshend was an early adopter of the classic black Docs, after all.)
