If a wayward string-bikini top is the undoing of your sporty look this summer, swimwear line Pret-à-Surf has just the style for you. Longtime friends Jillian Demling, a Weston native and the entertainment editor at Vogue, and Karen Mulligan, a studio manager for Annie Leibovitz, design their flirty yet functional pieces with the active woman in mind, playing with the higher waists and fuller cuts popular with Marilyn Monroe and other bathing beauties of the ’40s and ’50s. Back then, Demling says, “sexy wasn’t baring all. It was about feeling confident and being shapely and owning your curves.” Flaunt them in this striped two-piece, available locally this summer at the Revere Hotel, where servers at the new rooftop pool deck will be wearing Pret-à-Surf styles.

Lycra and microfiber bikini, $295, the Revere Hotel, 200 Stuart St., Boston, 617-482-1800, reverehotel.com.
