It’s time to fly our local colors. Historically, Massachusetts was known for its Gingham Mills, and a newly proposed bill could make the ­pattern the state’s official textile. The grownup checkered print came down runways in full force this spring in a number of fresh silhouettes and shades: languid draping in full saturation from ­Emanuel Ungaro, classically tailored shorts and blouses from Diane von Furstenberg, and provocative technicolor sequins from Ashish.
