To thine own butt be true: Don’t get caught up in trends or what looks good on a model or your best friend—just because you like the way jeans look on someone else doesn’t mean they will suit your shape.
Mind the pockets: Pockets should sit in the center of your behind and be proportional to its length, width, and curve. For example, if you have a flat derrière and wide hips, you need larger pockets to add shape.
Buy them tight: Jeans with spandex or elastane in them will stretch a full size after you’ve worn them a few times. Try on jeans that are one size up to see how they will fit after they stretch.
Tailor, tailor, tailor: Because we come in all shapes and sizes, it’s hard for designers to get it right for everyone. A tailor can adjust the length (wash them first), nip in waists, or patch holes to prolong the life of your blues.
