Chemical Reactionary: Follain Offers Healthy, Wholesome Skincare Products
The new South End apothecary trades on toxin-free beauty.
When eco-conscious entrepreneur Tara Foley began researching the ingredients in cleansers and cosmetics, she was horrified by the toxins she uncovered. So she embarked on a five-year natural-skin-care journey—including a stint at a French lavender farm and business school—that led to the July opening of her South End store, (which, in Gaelic, means healthy, wholesome, and sound). Now customers can browse Prospector Co. candles, essential-oil soaps, RMS makeup, and a range of aromatic offerings in Foley’s beautifully outfitted shop. Of the 30 lines Foley carries, 21 are locally exclusive to the boutique. “People wander in just to check it out, and then there are those who’ve read about these labels online and are so excited to touch them,” Foley says. Coming soon: a Nantucket outpost of Follain, opening next month.
