Object of Desire: Mathon Paris’s “Broadway” Necklace
These next-generation jewels are meant to evoke city skyscrapers.
Gerard Riveron spent 10 years behind the gem case at the now-shuttered Dorfman Jewelers, long a mecca for luxury-bauble aficionados. Now the jeweler, who got his start at Cartier in Paris, is proving you don’t need a brick-and-mortar to peddle high-end sparkle: Through his recently launched website, he’s bringing the work of indie European jewelry makers to his customers. Case in point: this limited-production necklace, sold exclusively by Riveron, from Mathon Paris’s Manhattan Collection. Meant to evoke city skyscrapers, the stylish diamond, green tourmaline, and peridot piece “has a feeling of modernity,” Riveron explains. And style, says the man who has built a career around beautiful things, is what endures.
