If you have at least 80 pounds to lose, and the thought of Jillian Michaels screaming in your ear sounds appealing (it does to us!), then you should head to Planet Fitness in Revere (Northgate Shopping Center,
 270 Charger Street) on May 11th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
to audition for season 15 of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser”. The search will also head to Charlestown, Chicago, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.

“The Biggest Loser” challenges and encourages overweight contestants to shed pounds in a safe environment through comprehensive diet and exercise, not to mention the lure of a $250,000 grand prize. The series provides the contestants with challenges, temptations, weigh-ins, and eliminations until the final contestant remains to claim the title of “the biggest loser.”

Contestants work out under the supervision of professional trainers at the “ranch” which, if you’ve never seen the show, seems like a pretty sweet home away from home. The hardest part is when contestants get back home and have to try to lose the weight with the distractions of everyday life back in their faces. The “ranch” was so popular with viewers that the powers that be even opened up “Biggest Loser” resorts that anyone can go to and train and eat like they do on the show (minus Jillian and Bob, of course).

Casting producers told us this afternoon that they are looking for charismatic individuals who have the desire to change their lives forever and compete this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But they kindly left out the importance of drama. The tear-filled show seems to thrive on the compelling stories of the contestant’s personal lives, in addition to their need to lose weight. So basically, having a lot of weight to lose is important, but if you have a good story that will tug at viewer’s heartstrings, then even better.

The fine print: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and legal residents of the United States. You can only line up three hours prior to the start of the open call. Candidates should bring a non-returnable photo of themselves.
