Celeste Corcoran has been a stylist at Emerge Spa & Salon on Newbury Street for 13 years. Corcoran and her daughter Sydney were on Boylston Street watching the marathoners cross the finish line, and both were both severely injured during the Boston Marathon bombings. Celeste lost both of her legs from her knee down. Sydney suffered shrapnel wounds and arterial damage in her legs.

In honor of Celeste and Sydney, today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., some of Boston’s poshest salons will be holding a fundraiser called the Celeste-A-Thon. For a minimum donation of around $50, which is still waaaay cheaper than the price of anything on Newbury Street, you can receive a variety of services from haircuts, to massages, to spray tans. More than 200 salons and spas in Greater New England are participating. Even dry cleaners on Newbury are donating. And some Botox centers, too. If there was ever a day to indulge, today is it.

In additon to the swanky Newbury salons, Supercuts decided to take this one step further. More than 180 Supercuts will be donating a portion of today’s proceeds to help cover Celeste’s and Sydney’s medical needs.

If you haven’t treated yourself to a spa appointment in a while, or you are in desperate need of a haircut, today is the day to go. For more information, visit Celeste-A-Thon.com.
