This summer you can really use the City of Boston as your backyard gym.

We reported last month on the free fitness classes available on the Esplanade this summer which begins in July, but now there is more news on Boston’s free fitness scene. Starting June 3rd and running through August 23rd, there will be free fitness classes in Norman B. Leventhal Park in Post Office Square downtown.

Sponsored by the Friends of Post Office Square, Langham Hotels Boston, and TD Bank, workers in the Financial District can now escape their cubes and head outside for free yoga, Zumba, Pilates, and bootcamp this summer. Two classes a day will be offered (one in the morning and one in the early evening) Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. There will be morning classes only on Thursdays and Fridays. For the full schedule, click here.

Fitness instructor Emily McLaughlin, who will be teaching the free Zumba classes, says that being able to give the gift of health is amazing. “Not everyone has access to these kinds of fitness resources, so being a part of this free fitness series is truly grounding,” she says. “I’m grateful for this opportunity to offer an energizing, total-body Zumba workout to Bostonians through the summer months.”

Free fitness classes are not offered in all cities. Boston truly lets you use the city as your backyard and free gym. So bring your sneakers to work, grab your coworkers, and join Emily and the rest of the city this summer. Take advantage of these free classes because we are really lucky to have them.
