Aww, we remember when it was a newborn.

We first reported on the November Project a little more than a year ago when the free fitness movement was celebrating its one year anniversary. Since then, we’ve covered the group countless times. And why not? It’s a free fitness group (they prefer “tribe”) that ranges in age from 18 to 71. Grandparents run with college students. Size zero yoga instructors work out alongside people that have 50 pounds to lose. And it doesn’t matter. They tell everyone no matter what shape you’re in to just show up. The tribe meets three early mornings a week and the locations and workouts are posted through social media.

Fast-forward just 14 months later, and the tribe has expanded to seven cities across the country, not-to-mention starring in New Balance ads, and gracing the cover of Runner’s World magazine’s December 2013 issue.

Since starting in Boston, the tribe now has seven outposts: Washington D.C.; Madison, Wisconsin; Denver; Edmonton; San Francisco; and San Diego. For photos of all the tribes in action, check out the November Project blog.
