Local YouTube star Sarah Dussault, who has more than 130,000 subscribers in addition to more than a million YouTube page views, launched her first book Tuesday called, Get Skinny Again: The Right Exercises To Get Back Your Dream Body and the Secrets to Living a Fit LifeThe certified personal trainer behind the popular health and fitness blog, Sarah Fit, also stars in fitness DVDs.

We all know that it gets harder to maintain your body as we age, and this book is filled with photos, exercises, and advice which is aimed at people who want to get back in shape. The press release about the book says that it’s tailored for those who thought they were naturally thin but have begun to notice extra weight, and for those who never learned the basics of a healthy diet and exercise regime. “Sarah shows readers how to easily balance the two and get the body they used to have back,” the release says. But, after reading the book, I think the lessons and exercises can really apply to anyone who wants to get healthy and not just those who were once thin.

“I wrote this book for the women out there like me who had a coach or parent dictating their workouts and meals up until or through college. Or perhaps you never played sports in school but were always naturally skinny and, all of sudden, in your twenties or thirties you’ve noticed your body has slowly begun to put on weight,” Dussault says. “As we get older our metabolisms slow down and we have more social opportunities that involve lots of empty calories. Studies have shown that when you move in with a boyfriend or become a newlywed, you are likely to gain weight. And if you have a desk job with long hours, the odds are stacking up against you. It seems that we are doomed, but I am here to tell you that we are not.”

The book is divided into two sections: Time to Get on Your Fitness and Time to Eat Clean to Get Lean. Chapters include: Time to Sweat at Home; Time to Spare 10 Minutes; Time to Eat Right; Time to Detox; and Time to Get Skinny Again.

Dussault makes it clear that this is not a diet book. When it comes to eating right, she says, “Most people do not lose weight by accident. It takes deliberate effort and self-control. Knowing what to eat and how much are the two most important rules.” Dussault is also not into crash diets. She says that she wants people to stop crash dieting and start getting healthy.

One difference between this book and other “get fit” books is that there is step-by-step photography to actually show you the exercises. The best part? Any Boston local (or lover) will recognize the photo locations right away. In addition to the exercises, the images show off some of Boston’s most beautiful outdoor spots to work out.

“I want you to feel sexy and confident again,” Dussault says. “I’m going to show you my favorite moves that will sculpt and lift your cute little butt. I’m going to teach you the sweaty interval workouts I love that helped me melt fat and I’ll list for you the ingredients to keep on hand so you can make nutritious, simple and delicious meals.”
