Last month, Self magazine hosted one of their branded “Workouts in the Park” on the UMass Amherst campus, which featured CrossFit, Pilates, and yoga. Since then, we’ve heard word of a number of other national magazines and websites that are permeating into our city to host events. Clearly, they know that when it comes to health and fitness, Boston is a hot market.

Below, a few events to keep on your radar.

Runner’s World is hosting a training event and gear clinic Wednesday, May 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Marathon Sports (671 Boylston Street). Reps says that the event will include a training run (three, five, and eight mile loops beginning and ending at Marathon Sports) and a clinic hosted by the Runner’s World gear editor.

PopSugar and Simple Skin Care are teaming up to host a free “Passport to Healthy Skin” event May 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Faneuil Hall. The daylong, free event will focus on the “stresses of everyday city life, highlighting how choices in food, fitness, wellness and relaxation can affect skin health.” There will be experts on site to offer tips and tutorials, including a “Healthy Eats & Detox Tea Garden” where guests will sample skin-healthy recipes and detoxifying tea; a “Fitness Zone” where fitness experts will lead 10- to 15-minute workout sessions including stretching, yoga, and meditation; a “Relaxation Room” with massage chairs and reflexology; and a “Beauty Oasis” with Simple Skin Care samples. Attendees will walk away with a gift bag.

Women’s Health is teaming up with Exhale Boston-Battery Wharf for the 2nd Annual “Fusion Fest” May 20 featuring free Core Fusion classes, light bites, goodie bags, giveaways, DJs and more. Exhale will be debuting their new class called Core Fusion Barre+Cardio, which combines the cardio benefits of interval training with the toning benefits of barre. The free class times are 5:30 p.m., 6:40 p.m., and 7:50 p.m.
