Running the Boston Marathon is a big deal, and throughout the years, a number of celebrities have made the effort. So far, we don’t have any word on favorites like Joey McIntyre and Summer Sanders, but we do have the first celeb name to publicly enter the 2015 race. It’s Uzo Aduba, the “Orange Is the New Black” star and Medfield native. She’ll be representing the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

The Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actress will be running to support cancer research, according to a statement by Dana-Farber. Aduba, who is best known for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on “Orange Is the New Black,” will be running with 500 other Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge teammates, all with a goal of raising $5.2 million for the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana-Farber.

“Running the Boston Marathon has been a lifelong dream, and I am proud to be supporting Dana-Farber as I make this dream come true on April 20,” Aduba said in a statment. “As someone who grew up outside of Boston, I’ve always respected Dana-Farber’s groundbreaking work in cancer research. I’m honored to be a member of their team, helping to raise money to further this work so that one day we may all live in a world without cancer.”
