The Club Meets the Gym at This New Class

Each 305 Fitness class is set to a live DJ and a light show.

With pounding music, dim lighting, and remix-heavy soundtracks, many a boutique fitness studio has been compared to a nightclub. ((305)) Fitness, the newest class in town, is perhaps the most deserving of that label yet.

That’s because each 305 class—a 55-minute cardio dance-meets-bootcamp extravaganza said to burn up to 800 calories per session—is set to a light show and a live DJ, blasting music right there in the studio. And you thought Barry’s Bootcamp was loud.

305, named after Miami’s area code and inspired by its club scene, has two studios in both New York and Washington, D.C., and opened its first Boston location Monday. It’s co-located with David Barton Gym, at 50 Park Plaza in the Back Bay.

In addition to its signature cardio style, the studio offers a beginners’ class for those a little hesitant about fancy footwork. A drop-in pass costs $26, while a 10-class pack is $199.

Intrigued? If you head to the new Boston location this month, you’ll get to take a class taught by 26-year-old founder Sadie Kurzban herself.
