Listen up, Boston Marathon runners. If you’ve got any free time between tapering runs and carbo-loading sessions, you may want to consider stopping by Modell’s before race day.

The sportswear store just announced a $25,000 sweepstakes open to any Boston Marathon runner who is also a Massachusetts resident. To enter, runners must visit the new Modell’s store on Boylston Street and complete a registration form.

Okay, so what’s the catch? Entrants must make a purchase at Modell’s before Marathon Monday, using the brand’s MVP loyalty card. Then, he or she must wear the purchase on race day, and take a photo at the finish line to prove it.

The contest will have two pools: Participant Pool A, for athletes competing in the mobility impaired, wheelchair, and handcycle divisions, and Participant Pool B, which includes elite runners and runners in waves one through four. A winner will be chosen from each pool, based on official B.A.A. finishing times. The fastest registered Massachusetts resident from each pool will be awarded the grand prize.

Now, here’s the kicker. Entrants in Pool A may purchase and wear any item, but those in Pool B must specifically purchase and wear footwear. One week to break in new shoes? The blisters could be worth it for $25,000.
