This Is What Chef Carl Dooley Eats for Breakfast

The former Top Chef contestant is the chef at Cambridge's the Table.

We don’t need to tell you that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. In this series, we’re asking some of Boston’s top doctors, fitness pros, and dietitians for a sneak peek into their kitchens, so we can see what’s on their breakfast table.

Claim to Fame: Dooley won national attention as a competitor on Top Chef season 13. Bostonians, however, likely know him as the acclaimed chef at Cambridge’s the Table at Season to Taste.

What He Ate: Rice congee with a sunny-side-up egg, kimchi, and toasted cashews. (What, you don’t whip this up on your way to work?)

Why He Chose It: This dish gives a great start to the day, with the protein from the egg and nuts,” Dooley says. “Also, the probiotics and spice in the kimchi and the rice in the congee are filling, but not heavy. I can make a big batch that will last all week, so it’s an easy, quick, and delicious breakfast.”
