It’s Been a Big Week for Celebrity Workouts

Matt Damon trained with the Boston Pride, and David Ortiz stopped by the YMCA.

They say gym buddies are the secret to accountability. And when your partner in crime is Matt Damon or David Ortiz, that phenomenon applies tenfold.

On Tuesday, former Red Sox slugger David Ortiz joined a water aerobics class at the South Shore YMCA, the Patriot Ledger reports. Ortiz was at the Y to film a commercial for John Hancock, but took a break to join instructor Kate Riley’s class. She took the extra student in stride, reportedly waving a Red Sox towel and playing “Sweet Caroline.”

Damon, meanwhile, stopped by North Reading’s Institute of Performance and Fitness for a quick sweat session with Boston Pride hockey players Kacey Bellamy, Amanda Pelkey, and Meghan Duggan, who posted a photo of the encounter on Friday. (Former Pride player Zoe Hickel, who is now a member of the Connecticut Whale, is also pictured.)

Sure, we’d all love to do a couple squats with Damon. But as one Instagram commenter noted, the movie star may have gotten the better end of the bargain.

“Dude I’m more jealous of him getting to train with freaking Olympians,” writes commenter ciwa1124. “He’s definitely got some bragging rights there.”
