Whether you’re an expectant mother, or looking for a way to get back into shape post-pregnancy, check out one of these local mom-oriented workout classes.
Yoga to Go
Kathleen Anderson, the instructor for this class, is an expert on prenatal yoga. She will come to your home for a private session, or she teaches in locations around the city each week. Although her classes are geared towards expectant mothers, she also works with women who have recently given birth and hope to drop their baby weight. She specializes in therapy yoga, too, which is perfect for those afternoons when your children are driving you up the wall.

Mama & Me Postnatal Pilates
If you can’t leave the kids at home but still need to get a good workout, this class is perfect. As long as your babies are in the non-mobile stage and older than six weeks, head to Jamaica Plain to enjoy a workout. The low-impact class will restrengthen muscles in your core, back, abs, hips, and shoulders. The instructor, a local mom who is also a Pilates instructor,¬†aims to help you get your pre-baby body back.

HealthWorks offers a Mommy & Me muscle conditioning class that also incorporates cardio. Only non-crawling infants are allowed in the class for safety reasons.

Fit4Mom offers many different classes for new and expectant moms including Fit4Baby, a prenatal fitness class; Stroller Strides, a walking club; and Body Back, a workout that helps new and old moms get back into shape.

Isis has locations in Arlington, the Pru, Needham, and Hanover that are specifically geared towards expecting parents, babies, toddlers, and young families. They offer fitness classes, the most popular of which include prenatal yoga, mom and baby yoga, and toddler yoga. These classes are designed for beginners and aim to help women learn the breathing and relaxation techniques that they will need during birth and parenting.

Moms in Training
This flexible, eight week workout program meets in Natick on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8 a.m. The program, which prepares women to walk or run the Tufts 10k for Women in October, is designed to be social while also helping moms get in shape. Babies and strollers are allowed during the workouts, and every woman involved will also help raise funds for cancer research by participating in the race.
