When George Foreman takes to the ring in Boston this December, it may be for yoga instead of boxing.

We reported back in May that George Foreman III, son of two-time heavyweight champion (and grilling specialist) George Foreman, was planning to open a luxury boxing gym in uber-trendy Fort Point, a small neighborhood that sits in between the Seaport and Southie. The neighborhood is filled with empty warehouses waiting to be converted into luxury lofts and restaurants (many already have).

Foreman is a pro boxer like his father and wanted to open a gym that was more than just boxing. He wanted to focus on nutrition and other aspects of the sport that he says other boxing gyms just don’t do. The Club opens this winter and Foreman, a Boston resident, will be there every day to train with members.

“Anyone can do it, and everyone will enjoy it. Our core ethos is: Everybody Fights! So, my facility will be equipped with amenities and workouts that everyone can enjoy,” Foreman says. “Regardless of gender or age, I believe that the boxing workout is for everyone.”

Classes include fight conditioning, boxing yoga, and Foreman’s “BOX-FIIT” (Fight Intensity Interval Training), a core-focused functional training class which was inspired by his years of training as a professional fighter with his father.

Located in a two floor, 15,000 square foot converted warehouse (see below), The Club will feature luxury amenities like state-of-the-art locker rooms with sauna, steam rooms and showers, an on-site juice and coffee bar, and a fully-stocked cardio and strength training equipment.

Starting Wednesday, membership pre-sale begins with discounts on training and merchandise. For more information on how to sign up early, check out The Club’s Facebook page.
