New South End Gym Is Offering $10 Yoga Classes
Burn Fitness is celebrating its soft opening.
Burn Fitness is celebrating his soft opening Thursday and throughout the month of April with $10 yoga classes, offered twice daily Monday through Thursday and Saturday, and once on Friday (no classes Sunday). During this soft opening month, yoga is the only class offered besides personal training. But the grand opening will be May 1, and then the real party begins.
That’s because it’s unique to have a small, boutique fitness studio in the middle of the bustling South End that offers an array of classes normally only found in big box gyms, such as Bike (indoor cycling classes featuring Schwinn bikes, which Sullivan says are the, “closest thing you can get to a real bike on the road.”); Indo-Row (a unique rowing class); Tabata (a signature class featuring 20 second bouts of HIIT followed by 10 seconds of rest); Bootcamps; and, of course, yoga.
The gorgeous chandeliers were hung crystal-by-crystal by co-owner and trainer Jonathan Cruz who says that he and co-owner Robert Sullivan—one of the original spin instructors in Boston—are thrilled that the studio is finally opening.
Community is a big part of the new studio, and both Cruz and Sullivan want the new, two-story space (the lower level is the locker room and changing areas) to feel like and extension of your home. “The first day of our soft opening feels absolutely incredible and makes us feel like all the hard work over the past [year] has truly paid off,” Cruz says. “The support we have been getting from our members and our South End neighbors has been nothing but positive.”
Burn is also participating in Classpass, where you’ll be able to go to classes three times a month. But if you want $10 yoga (who doesn’t) you better sign up before it’s all sold out. Walk-ins are welcome, but advanced registration will guarantee you a spot.
Burn is also one of the only fitness facilities in Boston besides Equinox to have the Indo-Row, a unique rowing machine that mimics the dynamic resistance of a boat gliding across the water, while providing a soothing wave-like sound. Just like rowing on water, the resistance increases as your speed and intensity increases. “It was important for us to have all these classes under one roof,” Sullivan says.
