Kabuki was often the subject of choice for Japanese artists because of the elaborate costumes and unique narratives. This Peabody Essex Museum exhibit spotlights the art form with never before displayed woodblock prints and a selection of more than 40 19th-century prints, including some by by Utagawa Kunisada. Guests will also view rare kabuki costumes, photographs, and sign-boards.
