The eastern Mediterranean restaurant Lala Rokh celebrates NorouZ (Persian New Year) with a traditional dinner, called Sofreh-Y e-Haft-Sinn, meaning "Cloth of Seven Dishes." The dinner represents death and rebirth and it takes place on the first day of the Spring Equinox. Symbolic ingredients include, sabzeh (sprouts) representing rebirth; samanu (sweet pudding); seer (garlic) representing medicine; and serkeh (vinegar) representing age and patience.
