Linda Pizzuti: Blogger?

Linda Pizzuti, aka Mrs. John Henry, has a post on Forbes about her involvement with the Pipeline Fellowship. Admittedly, I’m a sucker for all things celebrity-meets-blog-post, and this one’s a much more worthwhile read than Derek Hough’s open letter to Maria Menounous from earlier this week.

In the post, titled “What Angel-in-Training Investors Are Looking For,” Pizzuti describes her involvement with the 2012 Boston Pipeline Fellows Summit and Natalie Oberti Noguera, whose background in econ, nonprofit, and CSR/sustainability drove her to start the Pipeline Fellowship, which trains women philanthropists to become angel investors. By age 27. Wow.

Boston’s first class of Pipeline Fellows met in late February. Scrolling through the list and reading more about each of the businesses that participated at the summit, it’s hard not to notice some of the great work they’re contributing locally and globally. A sample: Quincy-based Making Care Easier, which connects families that are carding for elderly parents; Prosperity Candle, out of West Springfield, which helps women refugees become entrepreneurs through candle-making; and Connecticut-based Combat2Career, which helps veterans transition into the workforce or college.

Pizzuti writes:

“I left the Pitch Summit inspired and sharing that firm belief in the power and potential of social entrepreneurship. All of these ventures are real examples of the sustainable ways that business can make a positive impact in the world.”

It’s safe to say that the rest of us echo that sentiment, too.
