It Turns Out People Like Buying Commuter Rail Tickets on Their Phones
We are not surprised to hear that the MBTA’s new mTicket feature, which allows commuter rail passengers to buy and display their tickets via smartphone, is “insanely popular.” The MBTA launched the program on Monday, becoming the first major commuter rail in the United States to offer this kind of ticketing plan. On Twitter, they report an enthusiastic reception:
In less than 3 days we have sold more than $10K in #MBTA mTickets, app downloaded more than 6K times! twitter.com/mbtaGM/status/…

It’s as if people enjoy initiatives that offer convenient and time-saving options to commuters. Weird!
