Gabrielle Giffords To Receive the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. Caroline Kennedy will present the award to former U.S. Rep. Giffords (D-Ariz.) on May 5. She is being honored for the “… political, personal, and physical courage she has demonstrated in her fearless public advocacy for policy reforms aimed at reducing gun violence,” according to a statement from the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. In 2011, Giffords was shot in the head at a public constituent meeting in Casas Adobes, Ariz., where six people were killed and 13 others were injured.  [AP]
