Aaron Carter Got Beat Up in Boston for Invading ‘New Kids on the Block’ Turf

Is there a boy band turf war going on?

Aaron Carter—little brother to a Backstreet Boy, lover of candy, slayer of Shaquille O’Neal—had quite the visit to Boston this weekend. The child pop star was in town for a performance (apparently he’s still touring) and says he got beaten up because, as the guy who approached him in a parking lot said, “I heard you’re doing a show here tomorrow. This is the town of the New Kids,” as in New Kids on the Block, as in … sorry, what? This story sounded semi-unsurprising—several likely-drunk Boston bros decides to take out Aaron Carter—up until the point when the Boston bros revealed their motives.

Has it come to this? Do we need to have a talk about the culture of violence surrounding the boy band genre? Don’t make Aaron call up his big brother Nick and Nick’s Backstreet boys because A.J. will mess some people up. Anyway, Carter posted an Instagram of the damage:

You’d imagine that as a grown man singing tweeny hits he recorded before his voice dropped, he might occasionally have run-ins with unpleasant people, but you would not imagine him having run-ins with rabid fans of a different aging pop group. (Carter alleges they weren’t actually NKOTB fans.) Carter tells TMZ (who else?) that after the first man informed him he was on  hallowed NKOTB ground, three others jumped out of a gold Chevy Malibu. But Carter got some punches in, and he won the fight. (“People think I’m a pretty little white boy but no way. I think I won. I’m still standing.”) Also he isn’t filing a police report because that would be “girlie.” So … these details are starting to sound sort of suspect? But okay, fine Aaron Carter, we’ll take your word for it.

Carter took to Twitter to add some details:

And lest you think this reflect on NKOTB fans:

Also that shiner disappeared awful fast because the next day, he reassured us of his love for Boston with another Instagram selfie:
