Q&A #4: Patrick’s Big Bills?

Rolling along…. “cruious” (who has a curious name) asks an interesting one:

So, what’s next for the Governor with regard to any legacy legislation given the recent revenue fight?

I think the answer might be: another revenue fight next Spring.

The truth is, Governor Deval Patrick has plenty of legacy legislation under his belt — including the environment and energy bills he’ll soon be drawing attention to with some fifth-anniversary stuff.

He now is a lame duck, who the legislators can wait out. And the senate president is also a lame duck, with her own “before I go” agenda. Meanwhile, house Democrats seem to mostly want to avoid rocking the boat until they get past the 2014 elections, which I think have them a little nervous. So, I’m not seeing a whole lot of opportunity for big stuff in the rest of this session.
