Watch Mayor Walsh’s ‘State of the City’ Address
Since only 2,500 people can cram into Symphony Hall Tuesday night to watch Mayor Marty Walsh deliver his first-ever “State of the City” address, officials from his administration set up a special live stream and Twitter feed so constituents from Dorchester to Brighton can catch all the action at home.
According to event details, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Walsh will take the stage, standing behind a custom-built podium slapped with the city’s official seal, to discuss Boston’s path moving forward in 2015.
Walsh is slated to talk about his plan to create a “thriving, healthy, and innovative” city that will benefit each Boston neighborhood, and outline how his administration will increase access to affordable housing, better living conditions for the homeless population, and improving the public school system.
Typically held at Faneuil Hall, during his Symphony Hall appearance Tuesday night Walsh will also highlight his administration’s accomplishments since he first took office on January 6 of last year.
Prior to Walsh’s speech, members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the marching band from Dorchester’s Kenny Elementary School, and Elijah Rock will perform on stage, according to event details. The Pledge of Allegiance will be performed by naturalized citizens and future citizens of Massachusetts, and Boston Poet Laureate Danielle Legros Georges will read a piece composed specifically for the occasion, officials said.
