Men’s Elite

Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia, who returned his 2013 medal to the City of Boston in the wake of the bombing, won the men’s elite race, finishing in 2:09:17.

Women’s Elite

Caroline Rotich of Kenya bested Ethiopia’s Mare Dibaba in the final strides, finishing at 2:24:55. A Kenyan woman has won the women’s elite race in six of the last seven years. Hometown favorite Shalane Flanagan of Marblehead placed ninth.

Men’s Wheelchair Elite

Marcel Hug, the “Silver Bullet” from Pfyn, Switzerland, finished in 1:29:53 after placing fourth in 2013 and 2014. Hug defeated last year’s winner, 10-time champion Ernst van Dyke, who placed third.

Women’s Wheelchair Elite

Russian-born, U.S. Paralympian Tatyana McFadden finished in 1:52:54, taking top honors for the third consecutive year—the day before her 26th birthday.

Men’s Handcycles

Iraq War veteran Tom Davis of New York finished at 1:17:49.

Women’s Handcycles

Francesca Porcellato of Italy finished at 1:34:12.
