Boston Pride’s Denna Laing Already Crushing Her Recovery in Latest Video

Just 21 days into her recovery from a severe spinal injury, the NWHL player is making incredible progress.

Hi Team, I’m still working hard on doing something new or something better each day. I feel stronger little by little so I wanted to share with you a pretty cool video that captures my improvement. The Vita Glide machine I’m using in this video is completely self driven without any assistance from the machine. The video on the left is from January 19th, 7 days after I arrived at rehab, and the video on the right was taken on the same machine with the same settings yesterday. I want to thank the nurses, therapists, doctors, and all of you for the inspiration that pushes me to work so hard. I couldn’t be making this progress without them. Keep fighting my friends. 21 days stronger #TransformationTuesday

Boston Pride forward and Marblehead native Denna Laing is just 21 days into her recovery from a severe spinal injury. But you’d never guess it, given her infectious positivity.

Laing was hospitalized at Mass. General after she collided with the boards during the Outdoor Women’s Classic, part of the NHL Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium on New Year’s Eve. Since then, teams from across the country have shown their support for Laing. Bruins captain Zdeno Chara stopped by to drop off some B’s high-heels, and the NHL even honored her during its All-Star Game festivities last weekend, in addition to the $200,000 they’ve pledged toward her recovery.

Laing has used social media to keep fans and well-wishers updated on her recovery—and occasional Dunkin run.

In the latest video on The Denna Laing Team Facebook page, the Princeton alum is shown using a VitaGlide upper-body strengthening and rehabilitation machine seven days after she arrived at rehab, side-by-side with footage of her this week. The progress is incredible.

“I’m still working hard on doing something new or something better each day. I feel stronger little by little so I wanted to share with you a pretty cool video that captures my improvement,” the post reads. I want to thank the nurses, therapists, doctors, and all of you for the inspiration that pushes me to work so hard. I couldn’t be making this progress without them. Keep fighting my friends.”

Will do, Denna.
