The Prince of Denmark Is Here, Look Busy

Frederik is scheduled to visit Harvard, his alma mater.

Brush up on your Hamlet and grab one of those blue tins of cookies from Costco—the prince of Denmark is here.

Crown Prince Frederik arrived in Boston on Thursday with Crown Princess Mary for a two-day trade mission. The 48-year-old heir apparent to the Danish throne was scheduled to dine with Mayor Marty Walsh Thursday night, and will meet Gov. Charlie Baker on Friday at the State House, where a red-carpet welcome awaits him.

Prince Frederik is also expected to visit Harvard, where he spent a year studying political science in 1992. He lived in an undisclosed, off-campus location in West Cambridge, after a kerfuffle in the local and Danish press over his original pad, a rent-controlled apartment.

“Although he has not seen the apartment, Quincy House Master Michael Shinagel assured reporters that the prince’s digs are ‘princely,'” the Harvard Crimson reported at the time.

Meanwhile, Princess Mary will visit Boston Children’s Hospital.
