A local company is helping job hunters take their “elevator pitch” digital.
Here’s an eye-opening statistic: More than 48,000 jobs a day are posted on Twitter, according to the Woburn-based entrepreneur Joe Budzienski. And yet finding those announcements amid all the chatter on the site—and figuring out how to get the attention of the recruiters who’ve posted them—can be a real challenge.
Budzienski thinks he has the answer. He and a team of developers have just launched Gozaik, a website that uses an algorithm to search the Twitter stream for job postings. Here’s how it works: When you sign up for Gozaik, you create a profile, which appears as an online page of mosaic-like tiles that highlight your experience using videos, photos, PowerPoint presentations, or social-media accounts—sort of like a multimedia version of LinkedIn. Anytime you see a job posting you like, you simply tweet back a link to your Gozaik profile for the hiring manager to review.
The result? Users, Budzienski says, are able to provide potential employers with a richer sense of who they are than they would with a traditional cover letter and résumé. “Gozaik is an extension of your elevator pitch,” he says. “It’s your elevator résumé.”
