Dropkick Murphys Receive Threats from Neo-Nazis After St. Patrick’s Day Incident

After a band member beat up a man who made a nazi-related gesture at a New York show, someone threatened the group members.

Ever since a band member from the Dropkick Murphys strong-armed a concert-goer who made a Nazi gesture on stage at a pre-St. Patrick’s Day show in New York City, the group has received threats from neo-nazis in Australia.

A photo tweeted to more than 64,000 followers from the Boston band’s official account early Friday morning showed an email the Murphys’ management received, warning the band not to show up in Australia unless they wanted to be assaulted by a group of neo-nazis.

 Untitled

The angry email came just days after video of bassist Ken Casey punching a man with a shaved head who made the “heil Hitler” gesture on stage surfaced from the St. Patrick’s Day concert and was circulated online. According to a report from Rocksoff.com, the band invited people onto the stage for a few songs, including the tune “Skinhead on the MBTA.” As the Dropkick Murphy’s began playing “T.N.T.” by AC/DC, the man made the nazi salute while facing the crowd.

That’s when Casey went off, Rocksoff.com reports:

Casey noticed this and ran right over to the guy, smashed him in the face, took off his bass and hit him with that and then jumped on him and all out chaos ensued.  We could only assume from our vantage point that said nazi got his ass kicked.

Several videos recorded during the show were posted online and show Casey brawling with the man. After the fight ended, Casey walked to the microphone at the front of the stage and said, “Nazis are not [expletive] welcome at a Dropkick Murphys show.”

The group recently announced a worldwide tour, which coincidentally will make stops in five cities in Australia. Let’s hope they can avoid any future fisticuffs.

What are the odds that this was intended as support for Nazi politics, vs just an ignorant young person making a stupid hand gesture during a fist-pump anthem like TNT?

    • http://twitter.com/MicheleBach666 Dr. J

Well let that be a lesson to ignorant young person that not paying attention in school and life in general might cause you to get your ass kicked by someone that knows what the fuck is going on. What kind of idiot doesn’t know what a Nazi is and why people might be sensitive about that gesture? Last I checked America had these things called public schools where I seem to remember learning about the Nazis once or twice. Maybe this idiot was a home schooled freak so he never learned that but then blame his mama. I, like the Dropkick Murphys, follow the lesson my Grandpa taught me that is true Americans kick the everlasting shit out of cowardly asshole Nazis every chance they get.

    • jeffrey damnit

      who cares.
if you think that’s acceptable behavior you deserve to have your opinion changed abruptly.
      bravo to the band!

      • Auggie Doggie

What’s wrong with it? It’s a historical gesture. Surely you’re not saying Hitler did anything wrong?

        • Benjamin Eugene NElson

Please be joking… and if you don’t know what Poe’s law is I suggest that you learn. This is definitely a variant.

Pretty sure a skin head at a punk show is fully aware of the meaning of the Sieg Hiel.

    • skatie916

Slim. He doesn’t look like a young guy, for starters. He looks like a nazi. He looks like he knew exactly what he was doing to me. Anyone who’s been in the punk scene for any measurable amount of time should know better than to pull a stunt like that.

    • J. Grant

You’ve obviously never been to a DKM show (or any other Celtpunk/Oi band). The majority of the crowd is usually punks and trad skins (non racist), but neo-nazis also show up. A DKM show is considered a DMZ, for all intents and purposes – I (as an ex-trad skin) will not start a fight if I see a neo just enjoying the show, but more often than not, once a neo gets drunk, out comes the heil and white power salute. This usually results in said neo receiving a kiss from Glasgow.

good ol’ boston punk justice. I wish I could handle that scene, My local punk/metal scene died too early and then I found the dead….so I couldn’t hold my own in a boston pit, but a few years ago.

  • Mox_Demon

Typical liberals jumping to a conclusion. At least the man can sue that worthless band.

    • http://twitter.com/Sightlab75 Thom

Typical conservative, siding with a nazi. At least you jumped to a conclusion to make that statement.

    • Ronald Davis

That “worthless” band has brought more good to the world than you ever will. So if they are “worthless,” I’m curious as to what exactly that makes you.

  • Steve Pan

Looksl ike the nazi apologists are out in force

  • mannk

same thing happened in 2001 santa cruz at the catalyst. I got a chance to punch a few nazis myself

      you didnt do shit

  • skatie916

I have my doubts that email is even legit. Nazi scum almost never refer to themselves as “neo-nazis.” That’s a ZOG term to them. They like to use euphemisms like “white nationalist” or “white separatist.” I bet that email was from some 16 year old who dabbles in online racism but who’s never met a real nazi in his life.

    • peeneye

I wouldn’t worry about neo nazis in Australia, unless you find yourself in some hick town in the middle of nowhere, in an old run down bar, then rational, welcoming, friendly people are all anyone should expect when visiting. The backward folk exist, but mostly keep amongst themselves as they are a very very small minority.

Joe smith.. sounds like the guy didn’t even have the balls to use a real name…Joe being really close to John and all.

  • Benjamin Eugene NElson

    • Marv Cresto

Negative guy on the internet! Edgy!

      • Benjamin Eugene NElson

Tough guy on the internet being tough when someone can’t punch him in the fact… Never seen that before.

And I wasn’t being sarcastic. Neo-Nazis in my experience tend to be idiots. and not just for the racist crap. So yah…

        • Marv Cresto

Hey. No one was thinking better then before chip

        • Marv Cresto

don’tp unch me in the fact lol guy

          • Benjamin Eugene NElson

            Spellcheck fail.

Keep being a jackass, I don’t mind. If the best rebuttal of my statement you have is to call me names, it proves you got nothing.

          • Marv Cresto

your rebuttal was to punch me in the face and now you’re judging me lol internet thor guy

          • Benjamin Eugene NElson

The kindest thing I can say is that you don’t handle metaphor well do you? I was not speaking literally.

          • Marv Cresto

Hey guy I don’t know any

          • Benjamin Eugene NElson

So, you admit to being stupid?

Yah, I think this conversation is over.

          • Marv Cresto

            Admit? No.

        • Micheal McNeill

Goofy looking fat f#ck isn’t going to punch anyone with his ham-fists.

          • Benjamin Eugene NElson

Yah, thanks for the insults. It proves to me you got nothing and that you have to result to the equivlant of “You’re a doodie head.”

  • J. Grant

One of these days, neos at a Dropkicks show will learn that trads take it as a direct “come at me bro” when they start heiling and chanting about white power (and the neos are usually outnumbered 3 to 1). Until then… at least it’s entertaining.

  • flickerKuu

Good for them. Nazi’s today are tiny-dicked cowards who need a gang to protect them. Stupid inbred morons, should be thrown in their own form of ovens.

  • KevinRaposo

Dropkick Murphy’s shouldn’t even be concerned. This doesn’t even look like a legitimate threat, seems like this is the work of a 14-year old troll.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004784220655 Locutus OfBorg

did that nasty Nazi tweeter use the word “kick” or “lick”…I’m old…my eyes aren’t what they once were…

  • salvagesalvage

I have no love for neo-Nazis, the DKM are great and a part of me is delighted at their bad-assery but I’m not sure if I’m keen on people beating on someone because of their beliefs not matter how vile and deserving of a beating those beliefs and people are.

    • lastmanindetroit

Ya I’m with ya on this.. I find it hypocritical to hate someone for hating someone. I just think they are stupid and ignore them.

    • Jim Beach

I agree. But I also can’t say I feel bad emotionally that a Nazi got his ass kicked.

  • Trogdor

As an Australian I can say that the while racism is embarrassingly common here, you rarely see any nazi movements around anymore. Maybe late 80′s, early 90′s it was still going on, but they’ve all gone underground now. That or moved to a less multicultural country.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jo-Skull-Crusher-Bo/1620504853 Jo Skull Crusher Bo

fat ass bass player is tough with his bouncers around. they are a shit band too.

go back to your backwoods stormfront bullshit.

    • Marv Cresto

      Anarchy maaaaaaaaaaaaan. You are awesome.

    • Ronald Davis

For such a big proponent of anarchy, I’m really surprised you are posting on the internet…via a computer…that uses some form of electricity…. that is probably near some sort of unnatural light source that requires a system to run it. Good times.

      • Aron

Anarchists don’t understand what Anarchy is and that true anarchy is impossible to achieve because the strong will always find a way to rule the weak.

I didn’t see any Nazi salutes, just a guy with his hand in the air… among many dozens of people also with their hands in the air.

Why I should take the word of some drunk bassist who apparently thinks that violence is the way to deal with things you disagree with? I hope he gets sued.

    • Marv Cresto

Lol. Trust the internet to provide a cunt judging one’s decisions from a video tape. Good work.

    • Ronald Davis

All the money in the world says that Ken wasn’t drunk. Trust me.

I would just like to point out that it should have said “are plenty of Nazis” not “is plenty of Nazis”. I guess when you fill your head with shit, there’s no room for grammar.

  • wanita1959

Very few neo-Nazis in Australia & the handful of them are as weak as piss. Not likely to be any issues here. Good on Ken for what he did. Looking forward to seeing the boys in Adelaide.

  • KazD

Australians also don’t use the word “ass” (well, the intelligent ones, anyway). This is an American term, as opposed to “arse”.

    • Benjamin Eugene NElson

Who said he was a native Australian?

    • Jim M.

You are correct. If they speak or write this curse word at all, Brits and Aussies would say or write “arse,” not “ass,” unless as a synonym for “donkey” or “jackass.”

Canadians, like those in the United States, might also say or write the cure word “ass,” but would definitely not say or write “arse,” unless a transplanted Brit living in Canada. This word would be used as a synonym for the “rear end” as well as for a “donkey/jackass,” in Canada and the U.S.

I disagree with you that only “intelligent ones” use curse words, though. There are certainly plenty of educated, upper class persons who also use curse words in certain situations. Usually, curse words are used in a derisive manner, and often when the speaker or writer of the curse word is angry. But sometimes a curse word is not derisive or in anger, as when one says “I laughed my arse/ass off at the joke told by that funny comedian.”

This beating of the alleged neo-Nazi was likely some staged event by The Dropkick Murphys themselves , to make them appear self-righteously tough to their fans (who are, typically, angry young men easily persuaded by the political left), as well to demonize the political right. I never ceased to be amazed at how many angry young men are of a left-wing persuasion, which makes no sense anymore, since the left has taken over the mainstream. But, to exist, the left must continually make itself seem oppressed by some invisible, more-powerful entity that is right-wing (of which, the only such entity today would be radical Islamists, and one never sees the commies having the balls to stand up to them).

I hate it when music and politics are combined. One ought be able to enjoy rock & roll and music whether one is a communist or a fascist (and all perspectives in-between). But I have definitely stopped listening to bands and music (as well watching films and television) that promote a political viewpoint, which is usually left-wing.

I realize Nazi punk rock exists. But it never gets the promotion that typical leftist rock (and leftist drama, films, television) does. One would have to be living under a rock to not realize our society is controlled by leftist sympathizers, in the media, academia/public schools, and entertainment business. This was part of the commies’ scheme all along. Persons born before World War II were the last generation to oppose communism. And now younger Caucasian persons are too stupid and physically weak to fight back, which is why Islamo-fascists and commies have taken over Europe (and the former colonies of Britain), and soon will the U.S., unless something is done to alter this course.

In actuality, it would only take about 20 neo-Nazi males (2-to-1 ratio) to beat up the entire Dropkick Murphys band (assuming there are even as many as 10 of them), which could easily be done if the circumstances were correct, which would not be at one of this so-called band’s performances, where the neo-Nazis would be outnumbered by fans. But there are also enough neo-Nazis (and their sympathizers) who could take down any given audience at a Dropkick Murphys performance, if such was strategically planned. Assuming, hypothetically, 2,000 fans at a Dropkick Murphys’ performance, would only require 4,000 (two neo-Nazis for every one fan) to take down the audience.

Even though they may not admit it, there are still plenty of persons in the West who are not communist or left-wing sympathetic, and who oppose interracial breeding and despise Muslims. But people have become so fearful (due to political correctness) of losing their jobs and societal status that they repress their true beliefs. It will take something major to arouse an honest anger. But I think it will eventually happen. 9/11/2001 was just the beginning.

  • Casy4Pres

Haha, That would be a show! Some small tribe of ignorant fools trying to start a fight with a whole mob of DKM fans! Would love to see that on youtube. If these people are dumb enough to hate someone based on skin tone, these guys are dumb enough to try and fight a whole venue worth of concert goers.

  • Laird Bruster

Bring it on Nazi’s. I dare you.

  • Mr. Jingles

You can’t assault people for what you believe is an offensive gesture and get away with it in the USA. The victim should be awarded compensation and punitive damages from the bass player and the promoter or venue management

    • Preacher Jonson

No. Fuck nazis. They are the enemies of freedom and don’t deserve shit.

    • Clifford Tindall

wrong. him all the other neo nazi should be lined up and shot. no right for them. fuck this asshole and fuck you too mr jingle my balls.

    • Aron

When you attempt to hijack a performance by a group for your own political and genocidal agenda, you deserve what you get. He should be charged for disrupting the show.

  • Oz punk n beer lover

nice work Ken, have even more respect for you guys now. Be no problems here in oz, the nazi movement is almost as small as their tiny d**ks! Bunch of dole bludgers fantasising over russell crowe in romper stomper.

  • Chaucers Left Testicle

Don’t blame Ken for lashing out. There’s no room for pricks of that magnitude in this world.

  • Russ Boquette

DKM fans are some of the best in the world, I can’t imagine that they will have any real problems.
