Candidates Are Jumping into the Mayor’s Race
Update 1:09 p.m.: The Herald reports that State Rep. Marty Walsh is indeed running for mayor. Let the onslaught begin.
Over the past few days, I have received numerous phone calls, e-mails, and texts asking me if I will consider putting forth my candidacy.  The answer is yes, I am seriously considering running for Mayor of Boston.
The pundits say that we need to raise $1 million to win.  People may disagree with that estimate, but there is no doubt that a winning, grassroots mayoral campaign will require significant financial resources and a strong volunteer effort.
Arroyo, of Jamaica Plain, has been an at-large member of the City Council since 2010. He’s¬†one of a whole bunch of city councilors and an even bigger bunch of other contenders considering a run in the wake of Mayor Menino’s announcement that he wouldn’t seek election. The Herald reports today that Councilors Rob¬†Consalvo and Michael P. Ross are “seen as more likely to join the race,” this week, as is state Rep. Marty Walsh, even as Suffolk D.A. Dan Conley’s name recognition and fundraising ¬†head start make him a looming potential candidate.
